What I Do
You may wonder how much care can be done on a house call or a virtual visit. Simple: I can do anything in person in your home that your brick & mortar vet could do during an office visit. I can do a lot of those things on a video platform. Think about it: how much of your appointment time is your vet physically handling your pet? How much is discussion of your concerns & the plan? It’s ALL priceless, but it doesn’t all have to happen in the doctor’s office.
Wellness exams, early detection screenings, vaccinations, parasite protection. Life stage discussions, skin infections, signs of illness, & behavioral care. Nutrition, husbandry hacks, weight management support, & lameness exams. DNA test reviews, microbiome management, whole food supplements & lifestyle enrichment. You get the picture.
I also provide in home euthanasia; I consider this a privilege & strive to make this difficult time as comfortable & peaceful as I want for my own family. I’ve partnered with Faithful Companion for cremation services; their level of service is unique & modeled on human funeral home care. They’ll even meet me at your house to take your pet & deliver the ashes in just a few days.
Video visits aren’t great for assessing tumors or eyes, & it’s really hard to get a meaningful photo looking down into your dog’s ear. (I have found a few inexpensive tools you can buy to help, but you’ll need some in person guidance to use them at first.) Complete orthopedic & neurologic exams are also best done in person, but I can absolutely do this on a house call. Your phone is a priceless diagnostic tool for virtual & in person care; contact me for guidance on recording useful videos & taking good pictures for diagnostic support.
Pets sometimes need anxiety medication or even light injectable sedation in order to have a safe & stress-less vet experience in home or at a brick & mortar full service hospital. I’m equipped to handle this too, & I’m happy to prescribe anxiety meds for an in person visit. For Ohio residents, I can do this on a video visit. If you live in KY, your pet must have an in person exam before any vet can prescribe anything. (Tell your state legislators why this is a problem for you; they literally just updated the law & only they can change it.)
I CAN’T DO Xrays, dental cleaning (but I can show you how to brush), or surgery in the home environment. For these needs, I’ll refer you to several stationary clinics I’d trust with my own pets, or any other veterinary hospital you like. I don’t groom, but if your pet’s mats interfere with my treatment or are causing a medical problem, he’s getting a bad haircut & I charge for the extra time. Please have your pet groomed sufficiently for me to do a good exam. I MIGHT do a medically necessary shave down on a cat with a touch of sedation, but it’s probably prohibitively expensive. I don’t keep track of groomers & can only tell you about veterinary supervised facilities where I have personal experience. I’m not responsible for any care provided at any other business, even ones I recommend.

Cost of Care
I never want finances to get in the way of good pet care, but our reality doesn’t always match our wants. I practice along a Spectrum of Care, and I do that best when I know your limitations & your goals. Please talk to me.
I accept cash, debit & credit cards, no checks. I will ask you to set up your method of payment ahead of time so we can focus your appointment on your pet.
I offer subscription plans through baxtr.com to help you spread out your expenses over time. No/low interest payment plans are available through Varidi.com, Scratchpay.com, & CareCredit.com. Varidi does not require a hard credit check & approves everyone, but the enrollment fee is significant & does not apply to your balance. Scratch will do a soft credit check & doesn’t approve everyone; they require a deposit that goes toward your balance. CareCredit doesn’t require any up front payment but does check your credit and it can be tough to get approved. However, CareCredit can also be used for your human medical needs, such as dental care & eye glasses, through participating providers. CareCredit is a regular Mastercard now; for veterinary costs over $200, no/low interest plans are available.

Proactive Preventive Care
Vaccines & Wellness Screening: You’ll find I’m competitively priced on these essentials. Your heartworm prevention & tick/flea control meds are dispensed through my online pharmacy; they’ll do the price shopping for you & stay competitive with Chewy, etc. My online pharmacy also has multiple discounts & coupons & seasonal promotions, you can trust your pet’s meds are coming directly from the manufacturer through a major veterinary distributor, & the products are backed by the manufacturer’s protection guarantee. Chewy etc can’t offer this. Bonus: when you order through my practice pharmacy, I collect a small profit margin & you can feel good that your purchase supports my continued ability to care for your pet. Chewy doesn’t pay me anything.
